Pure berberine hcl also known as berberine, is a quaternary ammonium alkaloid isolated from the traditional Chinese medicine Coptis chinensis, and is the main active ingredient of Coptis antibacterial. It is a yellow needle-like crystal with a bitter taste; this product is soluble in hot water, slightly soluble in water or ethanol, very slightly soluble in chloroform, and insoluble in ether. Widely distributed in the plant kingdom.

Pure berberine hcl has antibacterial effects on hemolytic streptococcus, staphylococcus aureus, gonococcus, and Freund, Shigella Shigella, and enhances leukocyte phagocytosis. Berberine process: soaking in weak sulfuric acid water, salting out the filtrate with sodium chloride, filtering and drying to obtain coarse powder, dissolving the coarse powder in boiling water and filtering, adding hydrochloric acid to the filtrate for crystallization, washing and drying, crushing and packaging to obtain fine powder.
