1 Product Feature and Application

Pure l glutathione reduced is an important antioxidant found in plants, animals, fungi, and some bacteria and archaea as a white crystalline powder. It is a tripeptide with a gamma-peptide bond between the carboxyl group of the glutamate side chain and the amine group of cysteine, the carboxyl group of cysteine is attached to glycine by a normal peptide bond.

Sulfhydryl groups are reducing agents and are found in animal cells at concentrations of about 5 mm. Glutathione acts as an electron donor to reduce disulfide bonds formed within cytoplasmic proteins to cysteine. During this process, glutathione is converted to the oxidized form glutathione disulfide (GSSG), also known as L-glutathione.

Pure l glutathione reduced has the functions of anti-oxidation, scavenging free radicals, detoxification, enhancing immunity, delaying aging, anti-cancer, anti-radiation and so on. It also helps white blood cells kill bacteria, prevent the oxidation of vitamins C and E, and prevent strokes and cataracts from forming. In addition, glutathione binds to carcinogens and is excreted in urine.

Pure l glutathione reduced helps protect cells from damage from reactive oxygen species such as free radicals and peroxides. Glutathione exists almost exclusively in its reduced form because the enzyme that reduces it from its oxidized form, glutathione reductase, has structural activity and induction in response to oxidative stress. In fact, the ratio of intracellular reduced to oxidized glutathione is often used scientifically as a measure of cytotoxicity.
